A DAY IN THE LYFE

Desert Dreamland

A DAY IN THE LYFE, MY LOOKS, TRAVELFiona LeahyComment

Had a day-getaway to the desert. It's getting to the time if year that if you go there you can only be wearing a bikini, so this outfit isn't something i'd wear IRL (in real life). Especially the over-the-knee boots. Anyways, I love the detailing on the all silk dress, it's super beautiful up close and makes it stand out from your usual LBD.

**~CoaCHeLLa~** Day 2

A DAY IN THE LYFE, MY LOOKSFiona LeahyComment

If it involves a pina colada in a coconut, i'm there. Had so much fun at the Popsugar Cabana Club this Coachella weekend, I'm honestly still dreaming about the shaved ice machine. The party took place at the Avalon Hotel in Palm Springs, which is sooooo lovely I don't know how I've never been before. Would be perfect for a weekend getaway.

Was so excited to be reunited with my pals from The Bay, photographer Ryan Chua and blogger Ariana Lauren. Wearing a one-piece by Beach Riot, booties by Free People, sunglasses by Wildfox, bandana by Vanessa Mooney, kimono by Topshop, hat by Brixton, & belt by Nordstrom.

Thank you Popsugar for having me! xx

**~CoaCHeLLa~** Day 1

MY LOOKS, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

I'm sure everyone is already sick of Coachella pictures at this point, because I am. But I need to share just so it was known that I was there. I have had this Zimmermann shirt on display in my room for at least three months; it is the most beautiful piece I've ever bought. I'm in love with the gorgeous silk floral pattern. I paired it with jean shorts (I know, so basic of me)  and threw on every accessory to look *~FeStiVaL ChiC~*. I'm really trying guys.

I ended day 1 of Coachella by saying a prayer for every girl I saw wearing a floral crown to the festival. In case you didn't know, it is the year 2016 and that is not okay anymore. So don't be that girl. And don't let your friend be that girl either. *rolling eyes emoji*

Anyways, what are your favorite Coachella looks? I had so much fun being back in the desert and already can't wait till the next festival.

Wearing shirt from one of my favorite Aussie designers Zimmermann, quartz ring by Androgyny Designs, Sunglasses by Kristin Perry, turquoise ring from Vanessa Mooney and denim shorts from Urban Outfitters. Pictures with gal pals Lauren Manix and Monique Rodgers.

Teal Kitty Takes Playboy Haunted Mansion

SO LA, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

There are some nights that I have in LA that are so good that the first thing I do when I wake up the next morning, is call my dad. Even before reviewing what I want to delete off my snapchat story or looking in a mirror to see how raccoon my eyes look. "Hi Dad, I went to a Halloween party at the Playboy Mansion last night." He had a few questions and concerns.

I'm really not good at Halloween at all. The concept of me trying to  create my own costume from scratch via sewing machine gives me such bad anxiety that it makes me want to crawl under my sewing machine desk and cry. I whipped this costume together without financial damage, just creating an unforeseen tornado in my room and my bathroom sink looked like  we sacrificed the blood of a small mammal.  I wish I was more of a Pinterest hoe and could give you all these DIY ideas on how to look bomb dot com on this spooky day or wish that I didn't have ADHD and could make it through a YouTube makeup tutorial further than 30 seconds. But honestly I just threw something together within minutes. Thrift store shopping is my go-to. I love digging through racks to come up with inspiration. I have THREE more costumes I need to come up with to get through this weekend. Tell me all your ideas!!

Breakfast at The Plaza Hotel

TRAVEL, MY LOOKS, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

Teal Kitty here reporting from NEW YORK FASHION WEEK. For the past many years of my life I have suffered from temporary depression during this season. Fashion week season. I have vivid memories of missing anthropology class to watch live streamings of Marc Jacobs in my car in the school parking lot. Last spring I shed actual tears watching Peter Copping's first show as creative director of Oscar de la Renta. Being here in New York during this time, is an actual dream come true.

Started the day off this morning with breakfast at The Palm Court at The Plaza Hotel to celebrate my BFF Brooke's birthday. Unlike the Polo Bar, I forgot to make reservations far in advance and called the day before and got a table and didn't even have to pretend to start crying on the phone like how I had to do for Ralph Lauren. Plaza Hotel is definitely worth walking into the lobby just to see the twinkling chandeliers, and the afternoon tea made me feel like I was actually Blair Waldorf.

I'm wearing a vintage kimono that I bought from a vintage trade show that happens once a year in LA called Inspiration. I bought it from a vendor who collects ceremonial kimonos and claims that this one is from the 1940's. I absolutely adore kimonos. I always am looking for vintage ones since otherwise it's hard to find them made with pure silk. Wearing my favorite booties, the Chelsea from Rag and Bone. Accompanied by my first ever ever designer handbag that I have had since I bought it when I was 16. It's a rare find to see these old Marc by Marc Jacobs bags with the turn lock.

Outside Lands Music Festival 2015

A DAY IN THE LYFE, MY LOOKSFiona LeahyComment

All of my outfits for Outside Lands were a result of vintage shopping, thrift store digging or things borrowed from my pretty friend's closets. This outfit was one of my favorites since I have an unhealthy obsession with cheetah print. All things borrowed from my friend Talia except for my two layered shirts who are made by Morrison Grey. Here's a not-in-order assortment of internet appropriate photos from my time in dreamy San Francisco with the best of friends a girl could ever ask for.  Above photos by my bff Brooke Janzen

Abbot Kinney For The Night

SO LA, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

Saying farewell to the Me Undies pop-up shop on Abbot Kinney last night. Had so much fun with my SF babes in town for the weekend. Photographed with gal pals  Ariana Lauren from Fashion Born, make-up artist Christina Aguayo . Photos taken by Ryan Chua.

Totally overly head over heels in love with this floral romper I'm wearing. I'm drawn to anything floral; long rompers are a favorite too. They're such an easy go-to outfit with no effort. I wore them out with sandals for a more casual look since the event was in Venice, but I would usually wear them it out with wedges for a more prominent flared bottom. Romper is by Novella Royale ( Southern California based), quartz ring by Androgyny Designs, turquoise ring by Vanessa Mooney, necklace from Urban Outfitters, sandals from Steve Madden, and purse by Marc by Marc Jacobs

Purple Magazine X Milk Studios

SO LA, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

The only thing  in my life that was equivalent to having a Purple Magazine party in Los Angeles is when Boiler Room came to this city last summer. I have worshipped this publication like a holy testament that is responsible for my life aspirations. Every page feeds my soul and contains the most beautiful images. Inspirational to say the least.

The event was to celebrate the new exhibit at Milk Studios, Anthracite by Oliver Zahm. See more photos from the party here.

I'm wearing a dress by Burning Torch (made out of one of my favorite textiles, cupro), hat by Brixon, leather shoes from All Saints and clutch from Urban Outfitters. My unbelievably amazing nail ring was custom made by Androgyny Designs, I'M OBSESSED. All the jewelry from Androgyny is made here in LA by the cutest sweetest gal named Courtney. Luv her.

My arm cuff and body chain are a little preview of what I will be taking with me to the desert to Coachella. They are both made by London designer Gina Melosi. Her pieces are made out of recycled metals and fair-trade gemstones. See more here.

Fashion Tap Launch Party !!

SO LA, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

It's like I almost need a pair of tap dancing shoes for this one. Was so excited to be invited to join the launch party for Fashion Tap the app! The party took place in a hidden gem of a mansion tucked away in the suburbs of old Hollywood. The house was built in the 1920's (which is considered old in this always changing city), and has been used for numerous movie sets and commercials (Gone Girl being one of the latest). This house was absolutely CRAZY. From the vintage floral wallpaper to bookshelf doors, this house was one of the coolest places I've ever been to in Los Angeles. My friend Brooke and I got a little carried away with the excessive snapchatting in this castle, but yolo.

Fashion Tap is a new social media app created by Amy from Fashion Nerd! The name Fashion Nerd fits her so well; her quirkiness reminded me of Jess from New Girl but she had style as if she could be sitting front row at Balenciaga. The fashion blogger herself created a platform where you can tag your article of clothing by brand, and if someone purchases it you make commission. Basically just gives you a reason to feel less guilty about your shopaholicism. I got to meet so many new fashion enthusiasts and bloggers. The gifting suite included brands such as Love and Leather, Members Only, Tobi, Wildfox Couture (I got their Twiggy sunglasses and I haven't taken them off since), and so many more!

I was wearing a dark teal Helmut Lang dress and all my pretty jewels were from Marrin Costello. Her pieces are so easy to layer to make them look so elegant and chic. My favorite is the druzy stone choker with the gold chain links. See her whole collection here!

Les Merchantes + Ziesche Blogger Brunch

TRAVEL, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

I've been spoiled with my multiple trips to San Francisco; I think I made it up a total of 8 trips within a year. The bay has turned into my home away from home. I was SO excited to take a quick weekend trip up north; I've been deprived of Union Square shopping and the guacamole at Tacolicious (a must-try)  since before I left for Europe.

On Sunday I attended a blogger brunch at Beauty Company on Polk Street. Cutest one-stop shop to get all your beauty needs, a manicure and hair all done up.  The party was put on by Ziesche, a local apothecary company that is made locally in the pretty city made with the most dreamy scents. I got to try the lemongrass, vetiver and sage body lotion and let me tell ya: G A M E C H A N G E R. I don't even know what vetiver is to be completely honest but with my dyslexic brain the word looks equivalent to velvet, which is what what hands felt like after trying this little miracle in a bottle.

Also hosting the party was designer Les Merchantes. I'm kinda like a 5-year old child when it comes to  familiarizing myself with a new brand or collection. I have to touch everything. I'm that girl in a fancy department store that the sales person just follows behind me to put everything back into order. It takes me all of three seconds to flip up the right side of a garment to check the care labels to see what it's made out of. I blame my textile professor and my dad for brainwashing me as a child that polyester was this evil substance every time my mom tried dolling my sister and I up in matching outfits.   Besides the point, with one touch of the Les Merchantes garments my heart skipped a beat. Ooooooh yeah 100% silk. Gets me every time. Might just need everything.

Other talented local designers came out for the event: Waffles and Honey Jewelry (handmade in The Mission, sending my future boyfriend to her to buy me everything), Marrin Costello (Stoned Collection might be my favorite thing, like ever)  and also Project Juice came and served they're new juice Beta-Bomb with bubbly. It was like a mimosa with a twist; you get your daily vitamins while drinking champagne. I'm not sure if life really exceeds past that point of happiness. Also I got to meet some new blogger gal pals !!! Always love meeting new bloggers in the bay area, check them out: Yurk Style, Champagne For Everyday, Pink Lace Pearls and Cuppa Jyo! Thank you so much for having me! I had so much fun at this event.

What To-Do On Valentine's Day Because You Don't Have A Valentine

SO LA, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

If someone hasn't asked you to hangout Saturday night at this point, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you that you probably won't have a date. And that's totally fine, boys kinda suck anyways. I mean if you enjoy his company I would say yes to the date, but don't go out of your way desperately looking for some #romance.  As much as I joke about my romance-less life, sometimes I do miss having someone to do everything with. Instead when I need a last-minute plus one to an event I go down a list asking all the same guy friends that I call when I need to put together Ikea furniture. When I ask a guy friend "what are you doing tonight?" he doesn't know if I'm calling about an open bar magazine issue release party with my babe model friends to introduce them to or if I need help building a credenza. Anyways, I've put together this hot list of activities you can indulge yourself into on Saturday because if you're single (or cynical) on this inconsequential holiday, calories don't count.

1. Wine Tasting On Your Couch- Pretty self-explanatory, but underrated. I'm really into pinot noir lately...~swoon

2. Watch Gossip Girl- DON'T watch the romantic episodes. Instead watch the episodes when Chuck trades Blair for the Empire (still upset over this). Or the episodes where Blair is dating Dan Humphrey (still makes me cringe to this day that Blair would date someone from Brooklyn.)

73c6b1c9596d87d117ba00bbe9086963.jpg

3. Make an obnoxious dessert and eat it all- IT'S 2015 AND CHEESECAKE FILLED STRAWBERRIES ARE A REAL THING. Get the recipe here

4. Shooting Range- If seeing some girl that you haven't talked to since junior year of high school post a photo of  flowers she got delivered to her office accompanied by a box of chocolates she probably won't even eat because she's afraid they have gluten in them makes you want to put a bullet in something, then shooting range might be a good idea. I'm not a violent type of gal, but if you're feeling distraught over how your last beau broke your heart this might be a good way to get some of your words left unsaid out. If you're in LA visit the LAX Firing Range, here

5. Mondrian Hotel Sky Bar- Because what's a better way to celebrate anything than being poolside with a refreshing cocktail. The lychee one is my favorite. AND on Valentine's Day they're having a little day party with DJ Best Ghost (I'm a fan girl for him). Event info below.

6. Buy yourself flowers- Go ahead, you don't need someone to buy them for you. You can post them on Instagram and hashtag #secretadmirer and pretend that someone left them on your porch. I won't tell anyone.

7. Drive!- Have no destination and see what you stumble upon. Go up the coast and stop at hidden coffee shops. Drive up PCH to Malibu and go to one of my favorite spots on the pier, Malibu Farm. The Swedish Mini Pancakes are like one of my favorite things ever. The view is perfect. Go to a place you've always wanted to go to before. Drive to Salvation Mountain. Discover an ivy covered garden cafe. Make cheesy Valentine's Day cards and give them out to cute baristas.

Teal Kitty goes to 21st Annual SAG Awards

SO LA, A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

So yeah, I totally attended the SAG Awards. I can't believe I got to go to such an event and still the entire thing feels so unreal to me. It's so different watching an award show when it's not through a TV screen, and it was soooo LA. Most importantly, the red carpet fashion deserves a double high-five like the emoji. Some of my favorites were: Julianna Marguiles in the most stunning deep cobalt blue gown made by Giambattista Valli,  Rosamund Pike in the most gorgeous black floral dress by Dior Haute Couture, and I LOVED Julie Bowen's dress so much that I personally told her that she looked like a princess. She wore an intricate beaded dress that had the prettiest detailing, I think you need to see it up close to really appreciate it. She told me it was made by Georges Hobeika.

After the award ceremony, there was an after party put on by People Magazine. The award show took place at The Shrine downtown and the after party was under a decadent tent out back; and it looked completely different then the last time I went there (for a Steve Aoki concert many moons ago lol). I would estimate that I ate a total of 12 macarons throughout the night, don't worry I switched up the flavor every time. I had a pleasure of meeting some *~STaRS~* throughout the magical evening. I feel like such a fan girl having all these pictures but yolo idk.   I mean I seriously really am SAG-elligable so I guess that maybe counts for something, right?

I'm wearing a short dress because the only long dresses I own are prom dresses (ask me how many times I attended prom, that's a good lol) and I can't re-wear those for picture reasons. So I settled with wearing the LBD by Herve Leger, shoes by Isabel Marant, purse by Topshop  and earrings are Kate Spade. Photographed with Naomi Watts, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Night of Generosity 6th Annual Gala

A DAY IN THE LYFE, SO LAFiona LeahyComment

Attended Night Of Generosity 6th Annual Gala last Friday night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Generosity is a humanitarian organization that is dedicated to bringing clean water to developing countries such as Haiti and India. The event was hosted by Queen Latifah and Jason Kennedy, and honoring Megan Fox and her husband Brian Austin Green. I met and talked with Brian and now I regret never watching the original 90210 so we could have had more to talk about. Other guests included Mike Posner who performed and I also met Ashley Benson. So I know all girls are going to kill me, but just like Twilight I don't watch Pretty Little Liars. I've tried to watch and to be honest the show is kinda scary and the only time I ever watch TV is right before I go to bed and I don't want to get nightmares. I know, I suck.

The night was very elegant, and so LA. xx

Wearing LBD by James Perse and shoes by Dolce Vita.

Inside Teal Kitty

A DAY IN THE LYFEFiona LeahyComment

Back from a cat nap! I am so very excited to share my turquoise dreams with you inside my room at my apartment in LA. I’m absolutely in love with my location and couldn’t be more excited to live in the city. Of course, I had to have all teal furniture, which I found secondhand or at flea markets. Redecorating sparks an interest for me in interior design, and my next project will be my living room. I’m beyond obsessed with ad campaigns and editorials in Vogue and Net-A-Porter, so one of my many sleepless nights I decided to cover my wall in this masterpiece. One of my guilty pleasures is buying international magazines to see what is in style from around the world, Australian Vogue gets to me. Some pictures were on my wall back home, and I took them with me because I just couldn’t leave them. Like when Kate Moss was on the cover of UK Vogue in July 2013 (I think) or when Karlie Kloss did an editorial with Daft Punk.

Stance Socks x Girls Night In!

Girls night sock party?! Okay, please confirm me. Had the pleasure of visiting the Stance Socks Headquarters last wednesday night for their first ever 'Girls Night In' event that had an entire itinerary of fun activities all night. There was DIY sock designing where I made myself teal cheetah print socks that I'm currently wearing as I type this. Ummm hi I'm totally in love. The event also included a photo booth, styling fashion tutorials, and  the night ended with a live performance of Dorothy who completely insanely killed it.

Had fun going back to San Clemente, where I lived part of my teenage years.  Gift bags included the new women's holiday collection and Dorothy's newest album. Boot socks, everyday socks, anklet socks and over-the-knee socks. And after meeting Dorothy I told her that I will go to her next show this coming Monday at the Bootleg Theater in LA. Thank you Stance, I'm going to have warm feet all winter with these totally adorable fun patterns and comfy knits!

Barbie Loves Wildfox!

A DAY IN THE LYFE, SO LAFiona LeahyComment

Barbie LOVES Wildfox Collection launched and it's every girl's pink childhood dream come true.  It was a pizza party with grown-up drinks such as blush-colored martinis that matched my hot pink lipstick. The Swarovski crystal ice cream truck was back to serve sweet treats and hand out glowstick jewelry. Barbie's pink Corvette was parked out front next to the red carpet.  Party was at the new flagship store in Sunset Plaza, which looks even dreamier with the holiday light decorations outside right now.

My favorite pieces from the collection: Miss America Malibu Pullover, Call Me Walk Of Shame Tee, and the Happy Cat Oversized Sweatshirt. All the pieces are a fun funky look perfectly paired with high-wasited skinnies or vintage denim Levi cut-offs.

Wearing dress from For Love and Lemons, shoes from Isabel Marant, rock candy ring by Androgyny Design and candy-colored earrings from Kate Spade. Photo with blogger gal pal Talia from Feather Cat.

Violet Grey on Melrose Place

A DAY IN THE LYFE, SO LAFiona LeahyComment

This place is total hidden gem just waiting to be discovered. Was on Melrose Place window-shopping seeing the new collection at Chloe and a gal who worked there told me I should check out Violet Grey across the way. This is the cutest little shop that has all the best beauty products used within the industry. They carry the best of every brand from Tom Ford, Mac Cosmetics, Nars, Dior, YSL and so many more. This is a one-stop destination to get the finest must-have products without have to shuffle through an entire line on various counters. This is so much better than be overwhelmed by bright florescent lights at a department store.

All sales representatives are make-up artists themselves, and you can make appointments to get your makeup done here too! I was greeted and chatted by Merrady, who was very knowledgeable about all the products on the shelves. Loved this little store and cant wait to come back soon! xx
