Teal Kitty featured on My Threads app (!!!!!!), see the full story here!
Had so much fun shooting this with babe photographer Frankie White. Wearing one of my favorite pieces from the Spring collection at Burning Torch, the Ritual Dress. Accompanied by my very well-worn, Rag and Bone Newbury booties.
Happy Mother's Day! I have had this photo of Sasha Pivovarova on my wall since it was the August 2013 issue of US Vogue. Since 2013, I've moved to a new apartment and this picture came with me from one bedroom wall to another. I absolutely adore it; It is eye level when I'm sitting at my desk and I never can get over how perfect this photo is with her swinging her baby wearing the most chic outfit.
I'm also totally obsessed with these pictures of Kate and her daughter Lila. I came across the black and white picture on Tumblr this morning and I verbally screamed at my computer from being semi-offended about how insanely amazing this is.
I hope everyone has a lovely day with their mothers today. My mother is the most caring, strongest, thoughtful, and self-less person I have ever met. She has traveled the world with me: we've crossed the border to Cambodia by foot, ziplined through the jungles in Costa Rica, climbed the volcanic rocks in Hawaii, took me to the hospital when I got attacked by a monkey in Thailand, took me on my first trip to Washington DC, berry picking in Canada, horseback riding in Santa Barbara.....just to name a few. I don't tell her enough how much I appreciate everything she has done for me. Or if I've ever truly apologized for being a terror in my teen years and breaking the refrigerator during a house party when she was out of town and for her to come home to the entire house smelling of rotten food (I'm so so sorry Mom.)
I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have my Mom. I don't know if she ever reads my blog but I love you mom! xoxo
The only thing in my life that was equivalent to having a Purple Magazine party in Los Angeles is when Boiler Room came to this city last summer. I have worshipped this publication like a holy testament that is responsible for my life aspirations. Every page feeds my soul and contains the most beautiful images. Inspirational to say the least.
The event was to celebrate the new exhibit at Milk Studios, Anthracite by Oliver Zahm. See more photos from the party here.
I'm wearing a dress by Burning Torch (made out of one of my favorite textiles, cupro), hat by Brixon, leather shoes from All Saints and clutch from Urban Outfitters. My unbelievably amazing nail ring was custom made by Androgyny Designs, I'M OBSESSED. All the jewelry from Androgyny is made here in LA by the cutest sweetest gal named Courtney. Luv her.
My arm cuff and body chain are a little preview of what I will be taking with me to the desert to Coachella. They are both made by London designer Gina Melosi. Her pieces are made out of recycled metals and fair-trade gemstones. See more here.
Photographed with my gal pal Talia Giordano.
Fashion weeks have come to a close for the season, and I'm assuming that you didn't sacrifice your life responsibilities like I did to lay in bed and appreciate my high speed internet with live streamings. I put my Netflix binge watching of Gilmore Girls on hold and would fall asleep watching Ralph Lauren in hopes of dreaming about attending a polo match wearing a chiffon skirt and a floppy hat while bumping into Carter Baizen. I try to lay low during this time of year since I rather go to bed early to wake up on EST to watch Zimmermann before heading to class. I watched some of New York, Paris, Milan and then attended some shows myself in Los Angeles. After watching various shows this Spring, I've sifted out my personal favorites and the most important aspects to look out for this Fall:
1. Zac Posen
I've actually put a lot of thought into this and came to one conclusion. While Zac Posen's collection was nothing short of glamorous (as always), everyone knows what really stole the show. Naomi Campbell walking the finale in a full-volume gleaming ruby blush ball gown. I have been brainstorming theories of this how someone/something could look so perfect, and this the only sane settlement I came up with. I truly believe that Naomi Campbell was living in a Barbie box and they had her limbs wrapped up in zip ties and then they untwisted all the wires and unleashed her onto the runway.
Lagerfeld back at it again. He sets the bar high for himself season after season; last spring he had my jaw dropped when he transformed the runway into a full on grocery store and had the models strutting down the aisles with shopping baskets as if they were just casually strolling looking for whole wheat tortillas. This time around he took you to a Parisian cafe. Cappuccinos on the house, handsome dapper waiters, wooden oak furnishings and elaborate tile floorings. He named his faux cafe Brasserie Gabrielle after Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel herself. Lagerfeld talked about his collection and explained: "This is really what I would love to see someone wearing for dinner, lunch or breakfast...But not ladies who lunch, huh? That's another era." Yeah Karl, I'd love to go out for buttermilk pancakes wearing head to toe Chanel too.
3. Anna Sui
The 70's are back! And it's so boho breezy chic vibe I can't even handle it. Of course, it's Anna Sui so her floral patterns are to die for in every shape or form. I loved the mixed textures with the brightly colored fur shearing vests and accents on shoes. I wish I could style myself to dress this chic everyday. She is the queen of interbreeding patterns.
OH MY GOD. As if Valentino couldn't already be more perfect, they ended their show with a finale having Derek Zoolander and Hansel close out the catwalk. I was at school and when I saw this I actually made a scene by jumping out of my seat from shock and excitement. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson ILYSM!
I watched the live streaming of this, and as the camera panned the audience as everyone took their seats and celebrities were being interviewed...I was just sitting here s w e a t i n g. Completely ruined my fresh manicure with my excessive nail bitting prior to the show starting. Nervous. Excited. Worried. Sad. I was going through all possible emotions. Oscar de la Renta passed away last October, and this was the first show that was in the hands of the new appointed creative director, Peter Copping. I had my fingers crossed, legs crossed, arms crossed just praying for Peter to be able to live up to the fashion icon's legacy. And he so did. This show was so spectacular. The gowns were stunning as they flocked down the runway. All together, an amazing tribute and collection to start off a new chapter of the brand. SO well done, Peter.
Fi takes wine country! Made a day trip to Chalk Hill while I was up north. I can never say no to wine tasting, and the weather was unreal gorgeous. I always say that I need a vacation from my vacation-like lifestyle. This was the perfect little getaway. I can always use a glass of wine (or seven). Thank you Roth Winery for having me!
There's two times a year that I'm inevitably depressed and lay in bed wishing I was on the other side of the country. I have guiltily skipped classes in the past to watch live footage of the Marc Jacobs runway show sitting in the parking lot of my school. If you're stuck on the wrong coast like me, here's a few items that might make your week less dreadful. If you were in New York you wouldn't be able to enjoy floral maxi dresses or show off your pedicure, your fingers would probably feel like ice cubes, you would have chapped lips and your hair would probably not look that good tbh. Go lay in the sun and get an overdose of vitamin D and make everyone in the big apple jelly.
Barbie LOVES Wildfox Collection launched and it's every girl's pink childhood dream come true. It was a pizza party with grown-up drinks such as blush-colored martinis that matched my hot pink lipstick. The Swarovski crystal ice cream truck was back to serve sweet treats and hand out glowstick jewelry. Barbie's pink Corvette was parked out front next to the red carpet. Party was at the new flagship store in Sunset Plaza, which looks even dreamier with the holiday light decorations outside right now.
My favorite pieces from the collection: Miss America Malibu Pullover, Call Me Walk Of Shame Tee, and the Happy Cat Oversized Sweatshirt. All the pieces are a fun funky look perfectly paired with high-wasited skinnies or vintage denim Levi cut-offs.
