MCxMN Launch Party!

SO LAFiona LeahyComment

One of my favorite LA designers and sweet friend, Marrin Costello, launched her new collaboration collection with *~celebrity~* wardrobe stylist Mercedes Natalia. Pretty pearls, delicate chains with a feminine chic vibe. The collection is AMAZING. Can I have one of everything? K thx. The styling in their lookbook is drool-worthy and after flipping through it you'll have to accidentally leave it at your boyfriend's house with everything you want circled in it. Really though.

The event took place at my go-to spot in LA to go get my makeup done, the Nars boutique on Melrose. Super cute if you've never been, totally better than going to a department store makeup counter. Here are a few of my favorites from the MCxMN collection (featured above): Polkadot Bralette ($238), Thread Earrings ($48), and Pearl Drop Lariat ($88). Check out her entire line here

Here are a few photos from the pretty pretty event. Thank you Marrin so much for having me!! xx

Fashion Inspiration for 2016

INSPIRATIONFiona LeahyComment

London, Dublin, Miami, New York, Mexico twice (Cozumel and Punta Mita), Las Vegas twice, Denver twice and San Francisco six times all within 2015. To say I am living in a never-ending state of exhaustion is an understatement, but I wouldn't have it any other way. According to my dad, I'm hard to keep track of. In 2016, I'll need a leash. Here is a few things I deem semi-important in fashion this coming year.

1. Pantone Color(s) of the Year

Most importantly in the world of fashion 2016 is a HUGE year because for the first time ever ever, Pantone has chosen TWO colors for Color of the Year. Rose Quartz 13-1520 and Serenity 15-3919. So I guess having lavender locks like Kelly Osbourne won't go out of style, and having Coachella-esque hair year round is totally acceptable.   With these two colors, I would suggest color blocking when wanting to wear together. A baby blue coat can be paired perfectly with a sheer pink gloss. Or a pale pink crossbody worn with a light blue pair of jeans.

When wearing serenity, you can dress it with a pair of dark blue jeans without being totally monochromatic. Think a light-shaded chambray worn with rich indigo denim. You probably have this outfit already living in your closet. My favorite chambray is by Rag and Bone, and favorite denim brands are Paige, Current/Elliot, Mother and Levi's

For rose quartz, a perfect go-to is any shade of grey. For men, I love a rose-colored button down with a grey cashmere sweater or sports coat. To be completely honest I've never been a pink kind of girl, I'm actually almost kind of anti-pink. I don't know if I own any pink in my closet. So I'll get my rose quartz through lip colors or blush. My favorite would be Gaiety or New Order by Nars

2. Havana, Cuba

With all political views aside, Havana is becoming a trendy hip destination spot for 2016. With recent change in policy with the United States, you can get there easily on a number of different American airlines. Designers such as Stella McCartney and Proenza Schouler are taking inspiration from this beautiful Caribbean country. Think bold colors, loud prints, sugar canes, ruffles, and banana empanadas.

3. Half-Moon Bag

I didn't even commit to the 'bucket bag' of 2015 even though Rebecca Minkoff named hers the 'Fiona' bag. So I guess I've been holding out for this 2016 trend, the half-moon bag. Brooklyn Beckham's mom (Victoria) presented this style in her last season's runway, and I'm into anything that has to do with Brooklyn Beckham. I absolutely ADORE (x 100)  this one made by APC; I'll put this one's on my list for my birthday from my non-existent boyfriend.

4. Pleats

Dress pleats, skirt pleats, blouse pleats, skirt pleats. It's back. And you don't look totally preppy school girl wearing them; they actually look semi-elegant and not totally terrible. I recently bought a leather jacket with pleats on it that I've been drooling over by Burning Torch.

5. Fancy Pajamas

The roll-out-of-bed look just went one step further. Anything and everything you would wear to bed is totally acceptable in 2016. Silky two piece sets, dolled up in jewels topped with a blazer or fur coat. Knowing me, I probably won't brush my hair with this look either just to really fit the part.

House of Harlow 1960 Pop-Up Shop X The Grove

SO LAFiona LeahyComment

More than the daughter of a musical legend and all grown up from her reality days on The Simple Life (showing that there is hope for all of us);  Nicole Richie has made a name for herself for being a fashion icon. Just a smidge above five foot, Richie has reinvented herself as a style savvy goddess. Nicole Richie is idol-esqué. I dont know if I've ever really said that I've idolized anybody except probably my father. So this is kind of a big deal.

I have been following Richie's line, House of Harlow 1960 for years. She has been the creative force behind the line since it launched back in 2009; the brand has a feel of vintage inspiration while being fashion-forward, as well as timeless all at the same time.  HOH is mostly known for it's fashion jewelry, being top-sellers at stores such as Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.  Nicole debuted her new line at a pop-up shop at The Grove and for the first time ever featuring clothing, sunglasses, home goods, jewelry and vintage pieces curated by Nicole herself. I attended the grand-opening party that had sushi rolls and bubbly,  and with all 5'1 of Nicole being swallowed in the crowd as she went around to greet her guests. At this event I was most excited about seeing the new clothing collection. When I first lock eyes with a garment it's a matter of seconds before I'm lifting up the left bottom corner to check the care-label. Textile classes have ingrained this in my habits to the point where it's just done subconsciously.Great story: one time I was on a first date and I was more concerned about this guy's shirt than how many siblings he had, and I honestly don't remember anything he talked about except for the fact that I actually real life asked him what kind of fabric his shirt was made out of. He did the typical shrug-shoulders-post-typical-guy-response of 'i don't know' mixed in with a  3 second dead stare where he probably asked himself where he found this girl....~(tinder :-)))))~ Moral of the story is this boy will forever be remembered in my heart and soul as 100% pima cotton xoxo. Annnyyyways, I was so impressed when looking at House of Harlow care label tags and reading that they are made here in the U.S.A! With some garments being made with fine silks, it is becoming harder and harder to find quality clothing being manufactured here. Even though they are more expensive, I am willing to pay more knowing that the maker was paid with fare wages.

My favorite pieces from the new collection are below! The House of Harlow pop-up shop will be open at The Grove in Los Angeles until July 19th and also can be found on their website.

Shopping Guide: Everything You Should Buy Yourself For Christmas Because You Don't Have A Boyfriend

Fiona LeahyComment

I got a lot of positive feedback on my last shopping guide, so I decided to create this. I also got some attention from men who coincidentally decided to text me after I posted that. And I'm just like ~srry br0~, If you really wanted a leather jacket you had to start pursuing me a loooong time ago. You're a little too late and I'm not interested. I'm doing perfectly fine in the dating scene and things are looking up for me since my last relationship, I mean I even joined Tinder.   So anyways, I decided to make this list for loner girls like myself that persuade themselves that they deserve to shop for themselves because you're just f*&%ing great.

1. Voluspa Candle 'Suede Blanc' $16

So this candle smells like musky cologne without the overkill like you're walking past Abercrombie. Soooooo basically, this is a boyfriend replacement. Date night by yourself. The candle won't talk back, so you don't have to pretend like you care about politics or who won the game today. Just light it up and have a romantic dinner and you can drink an entire bottle of wine without sharing with anyone.

2. Lili Claspe Jewelry $40-245

Okay let's face it: no one is buying you jewelry this year. Like maybe your mom but that doesn't really count. So treat yourself and don't be a basic bitch and buy something from Tiffanys. Get something trendy that will pop with every outfit. I'm overly obsessed with this jewelry line Lili Claspe. It is vintage inspired made with precious gemstones. I'm in love with everything but some of my favorites are: Moss Agate Ring ($150), Amelia Chain ($80), Deer Lovely ($40), Arpie Cuff ($245) and while you're at it just buy the Dueling Guns Jewelry Holder ($130). And if you're thinking that you shouldn't spend all this money on yourself then just think how much money you're saving not having to shop for a significant other this year...GOTCHA.

3. Bat Your Lashes Underwire Bralette, For Love and Lemons $121

Ummmm if we're looking at the same picture you know that this is a must-have. You don't need a cute boy to wear a cute bra. For Love and Lemons is one of my favorite clothing brands that are based out of Los Angeles. Everything they make makes me drool. I want it all; knits, lingerie, dresses etc. The lace is so perfect; I wore their Antigua Dress for my last birthday and got a bundle of compliments.

4.  Fresh, Sugar Dream Kit $52

I just bought this and it's possibly life changing. Your lips feel smoother than churned butter and afterwards you can apply a matte lipstick and it'll look/feel perfectly velvety. Even though you're not kissing any boys it's never a bad idea because you never know who you'll meet under the mistletoe (rhymed not on purpose).

These are SO fun. I love photo booths and my roommate has this camera and my wall is covered in polaroid pictures. iPhone photos eventually get forgotten but these are so precious. Some of my best memories have been taken on this thing, like when I ended up at a zebra farm on my 21st (really good story) and Lana del Rey concert at Hollywood Forever with my little sister. Buy it from the link and that website doesn't charge tax or shipping.

6. West 57th Travel Pouch, Henri Bendel $98

My daily life aspiration is to be as much like Blair Waldorf as possible. I frequently ask myself: "what would Blair Waldorf do?" I think I have such high standards in guys because of Chuck Bass, even though I'm completely aware that he is a fictional character. This cute little wristlet is so upper east sider and chic. It comes in like 4 other colors but red is the best one since it really stands out.

7. Rebecca Minkoff Tech-Wearable Jewelry (coming soon)

I've wanted this since Rebecca Minkoff revealed it last season at New York Fashion Week. She's one of my favorite designers and I've always been a fan of her accessories. A cute bracelet that's also a phone charger?!? I don't know about you, but when my phone dies the party is over. When I see that little red bar when you hit under 20% it's time to call an Uber and GTFO. So....if I'm wearing a phone charger bracelet out, basically I don't think the party will ever stop. I'll just be like Miley and be like 'we can't stop, we won't stop.' Her line of 'functional fashion' is said to be debuting this spring and I'm counting down the days. So maybe this isn't exactly Christmas list worthy, but save your pennies so you can buy this in a couple months.

8. YSL Mascara $30

THE BEST $30 YOU'LL EVER SPEND. I love this so much that I bought one for all my best friends last Christmas. My favorite ones are 'Shocking' and 'Babydoll.' I use Babydoll on my bottom lashes because it's more whispy and then I kinda look like....a baby doll.

9. Forever Alone Pillow

So I'm not exactly sure if this is a real thing, but it totally should be.Don't have to be sad about not having a cuddle buddy to watch a movie with on a Friday night. Just keep this thing in your closet and bring it out to treat yo' self on the weekends.

Veuve Clicquot $50

Veuve is always a good idea. Buy this and drink it with all your girlfriends and sit in a circle and talk about the worst date you've ever been on. I somehow have more worst date stories than most people. I guess I'm just really lucky. Only buy the bottle that comes in the box, otherwise it doesn't make as good of an insta pic (all that matters).

Artists and Fleas Market in Downtown LA

MY LOOKS, A DAY IN THE LYFE, SO LAFiona LeahyComment

I’ve always been such a sucker for flea markets. Maybe this is a sign of the beginning stages of hoarding, since I don’t think I’ve ever attended a flea market with intentions to buy something that I really needed. I found out about the Artist and Fleas Market via Instagram from one of my favorite jewelry companies in LA, Androgyny Designs. The market is located on 6th street and Mateo downtown in the Art District; it’s open every third weekend of the month!  Here you can find the best trinkets and treasures all from local artists, designers etc. You can find an array of handmade jewelry, trendy succulent air plants, unique leather pieces and so much more. If you have a significant other, don’t be basic and put Tiffanys on your wishlist this Christmas. Come here and find a gem.  I scored a crystal geo rock ring from Androgyny and I am so mesmerized by it that it will be my go-to distraction this Monday morning. The only picture I’ve taken with it is this snapchat *~SeLFie~*, enjoy.  Photography of me taken by Jose Gallina.
